Residencies for Northern California Early to Mid-Career Time-Based Artists

Dresher Ensemble Artist Residency awards 6 residencies annually to early and mid-career artists—either individuals, or groups collaborating on a single project.

Since 2012, DEAR has provided 80 residencies, supporting the artistic growth of over 300 artists—helping artists experiment, innovate, and reach new audiences—and serving as a vital engine for creative development in the Bay Area and beyond.

Each Residency provides:
- Full access (24/7) for 1-4 weeks in our rehearsal studio (40’ x 42’ sprung dance floor—with Marley floor covering; 20’ceilings, and two 9’ concert grand pianos) and fabrication shop. Residency weeks may be contiguous or spread out over several months.
- Access to state of the art equipment (sound, lighting, projection, and recording)
- A production stipend (currently up to $1500)
- Technical, financial, marketing, and managerial consultations
- Fiscal sponsorship (if needed)
- Performance opportunities (shared revenues)
