MADAMADAM is a full length play that explores what happens when a queer man returns to his deadhome - the one he no longer identifies or chooses as his own— in search of a reckoning.  

After years of going “no contact” with his mother, Garrett decides to pay her a surprise visit on Thanksgiving Day.  Armed with a new radical understanding of himself and his family, his visit disrupts the holiday and sets in motion of a chain of events that will have shocking and unexpected consequences.

About the playwright/director: 

Leif Larson is a gay playwright living in NYC. Recent works include Shake the Disease for Downtown Urban Arts Festival on Theatre Row and The Queerly Festival at FRIGID New York (2024), cum rag for The Spark Theater Festival (2024), The Arcadian Loop for the SOOP to Nuts Short Play Festival (2024), Chunks in Syrup for the Gene Frankel Theatre Festival (2025), Out of the Ashes for the Cut Edge Collective The Minute Play Festival (2025), and Het Crimes for the International Human Rights Arts Festival (2025). 

Leif is a Fellow in Literary Arts with the Lucas Artists Residency Program and a member of the Cut/Edge Collective, a cohort of experimental and boundary-pushing playwrights hosting salons, readings and an annual festival. He is an alum of the Vermont Studio Center where he was awarded a Playwright Fellowship in 2022.
