NOW CASTING ACTORS AND MOVERS FOR  DEVELOPMENTAL WORKSHOP OF PROJECT QUANTUM HEART, AN IMMERSIVE THEATRE PROJECT, WRITTEN BY AMY GRACE LAM, DIRECTED BY SCARLETT KIM

About the Project

Project Quantum Heart (PQH) is a 90-min “play-game,” an interactive/immersive live theatre experience. The story follows Emily Wong, a Chinese American woman in academia who, after being denied tenure and on the verge of a mental health breakdown, applies to become a video game designer—only to slip into the game’s landscape, a shadow realm. Through encounters with divine beings and creatures, she finds herself.

Audiences participate in the storytelling through a series of hands-on quests and prompts. Their choices shape the environment of the unfolding story.

Project Quantum Heart is an independently produced, multi-year theatrical endeavor, co-produced with MARU, a community-based organization serving Asian immigrants and refugees. This October 2026 workshop takes place at The MilkBar, as part of Project Quantum Heart’s artist residency. PQH has been developed with support from the San Francisco Arts Commission, the Gerbode Foundation, the Kenneth Rainin Foundation, Theatre Bay Area, and San Francisco State University's Race, Empowerment, and Justice Project.

About the Process

This casting call is for a developmental, process-oriented workshop taking place in the Bay Area, October 5-16th, 2026. Potential continuation of contract for Spring/Summer 2027 world premiere. We are looking for actors to join the core project team in an exploratory process, which will include movement improvisation, staging experimentation, participatory storytelling, audience engagement, interactive experience design, and character/narrative development.

We welcome artists who are passionate about playing in the unknown, ensemble collaboration, and who are interested in the topics of healing and community mental health!
