SCHOOL OF ROCK: Youth Auditions: Non-Union, Volunteer
Based on the beloved hit film, SCHOOL OF ROCK is a high-voltage musical celebration of music, mentorship, and finding your voice. When struggling rock musician Dewey Finn poses as a substitute teacher at an elite prep school, he secretly transforms a class of straight-A students into a mind-blowing rock band. As the students discover their confidence and creativity, they learn the power of working together and supporting one another.
Please note, this audition will last approximately 1 hour, with both music and sides being read during the call. If you would like to be considered for one of the band members, please bring your instrument and prepare a short 1 minute piece to share. Audition packets will be sent once an audition appointment has been booked.

CURRENTLY SEEKING:
SUMMER HATHAWAY: (age 10 to 15) Mezzo/Belt (A3-D5) Confident and outspoken, Summer is the ideal manager for the band. Ambitious and very clever, she hopes that winning Battle of the Bands will look good on her college application.
ZACK MOONEYHAM: (age 10 to 15) Tenor (C4-E5), MUST PLAY GUITAR. Zack is the band’s lead guitarist and also a talented songwriter. He desperately wants to impress his father, who’s usually too busy with work to take an interest in his family.
TOMIKA: (age 10 to 15) Alto (G3-E5) New girl Tomika is struggling to fit in at Horace Green. She conquers her shyness to reveal her phenomenal singing ability and becomes a lead vocalist alongside Dewey in the band.
LAWRENCE: (age 10 to 15) Tenor (C4-D5), MUST PLAY KEYBOARD. Awkward and lacking in confidence, Lawrence is hesitant to attempt something “cool”, like joining a band, but he soon turns out to be a fantastic keyboardist.
KATIE: (age 10 to 15) Alto (A3-D5), MUST PLAY BASS. Quiet and serious, Katie already played the cello, but switched to bass at Dewey’s suggestion to fill out the band.
FREDDIE HAMILTON: (age 10 to 15) Tenor (C4-D5), MUST PLAY DRUMS. Freddie loves a bit of rowdiness and noise, making him a great drummer. His own father doesn’t see his ability and constantly belittles his son.
MARCY & SHONELLE: (age 10 to 15) Mezzo/Alto (A3-D5) Quiet girls with angelic voices, Marcy and Shonelle are the band’s backup singers and dancers.
MASON: (age 10 to 15) Mason is a total whiz with technology, and creates special effects and fantastic lighting designs for the band’s performances using his laptop.
BILLY: (age 10 to 15) Flamboyant and artistic, Billy has a passionate interest in fashion, even though his father wants him to be a footballer like the other men in his family. He designs the band’s costumes.
JAMES: (age 10 to 15) James is tough and reliable, making him a good security guard for the band. Mostly, he keeps an eye out for anyone coming while the band is secretly rehearsing!
SOPHIE & MADISON: (age 10 to 15) Mezzo/Alto (A3-D5) Sophie and Madison are the band’s roadies, but also serve as backup dancers.
