Altarena Playhouse is holding auditions for The Lion in Winter by James Goldman

Directed by Angela Mason

Performance Dates: October 23^rd through November 22^nd

Comedic in tone, dramatic in action – this play tells the story of the Plantagenet family, who are locked in a free-for-all of competing ambitions to inherit a kingdom. The queen, and wealthiest woman in the world, Eleanor of Aquitaine, has been kept in prison since raising an army against her husband, King Henry II. Let out only for holidays, the play centers around the inner conflicts of the royal family as they fight over a kingdom during the Christmas of 1183. As Eleanor says, “Every family has its ups and downs,” and this royal family is no exception.

Audition Dates:

Saturday, May 30^th at 1pm and Sunday, May 31^st  at 6pm, by appointment

Callbacks: Tuesday, June 2^nd at 7pm, by invitation

Rehearsals begin September 8^th

Auditions will be held at the Altarena Playhouse, 1409 High Street, Alameda

Performers of all races, ethnicities, and genders are encouraged to audition.

ALAIS – female, 20-25, a French Princess

JOHN – male, 16-20, the youngest son

GEOFFREY – male, 25-35, the middle son

RICHARD LIONHEART – male, 25-35, the oldest son

PHILIP – male, 20-25, King of France
